privately owned companies and joint ventures covering
the world's pharmaceutical markets. The companies have
particular expertise in drug delivery systems and these
are applied to our range of analgesics, respiratory
treatments, and cardiovascular drugs.
The companies also have a growing presence in the
oncology market, and products in the areas of laxatives
and antiseptics.

4,000 employees
and have ex-company sales of approximately $1.75
billion of which a
significant proportion are from licensed-in products. We
have research and production centres in the US,
UK, Canada and Germany and, through our joint
ventures, in India, China, Latin
America and Cyprus.

The Independent Associated Companies
The companies
include pharmaceutical companies in North America,
Europe and Asia, with joint ventures in India, China, Argentina, Brazil, Mexico and Cyprus.
The Purdue Pharma Company, founded in 1892 in New York City, was
acquired by Dr Mortimer D Sackler and Dr Raymond
R Sackler in 1952. Today Purdue has four major
sites: Stamford, Connecticut (headquarters);
Cranbury,
New Jersey(research and development); Totowa, New
Jersey (manufacturing); Wilson, North Carolina,
with a staff of over 1000.

Purdue Pharma of Canada. The company
was established in 1956, and in the summer of
1991, a new factory, research facility and administrative
corporate headquarters were opened in Pickering
near Toronto
Mundipharma AG, Basel, Switzerland was
the first Mundipharma company established in 1957
and functions as an international licensing and
trading company. It has a worldwide
licensing and distribution network with sales
of licensed products in over 100 countries. These
include successful third party collaborations
and licensing in the Middle East,
Asia and Africa.
