Research and development
The Purdue/Mundipharma/Napp
independent associated companies were
among the first to develop controlled release technology
and successfully apply it to many useful medicines.
Since the launch of Phyllocontin Continus tablets in
1974, the Companies' expertise in controlled release
systems has enabled many valuable drugs to outperform
their original potential by simplifying dosage and improving
patient compliance.
The companies currently employ over
500 scientists in the US,
UK, Germany and Canada who work in research and development.
This international research
collaboration is at the forefront
of new controlled release delivery technology.
Developments
include systems that utilise slow release spheroids
within capsules, and controlled release resin formulations,
which gradually release a drug within the digestive
tract.
The International Molecular Discovery group operates
across local company divisions and through an extensive
network of collaborative ventures with both industrial
and academic partners. The
independent associated companies have
combinatorial chemistry and monoclonal antibody technologies.
